This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
Welcome Back to School! I'm so excited to go into this school year with you all! This is going to be a fantastic year for band!
These are the Weekly Updates. Generally, in High School it is the student's responsibility to stay on top of their schedule to make sure they are able to attend all necessary band events throughout the year.... but we know that students aren't always perfect, so parents also have access to the same information.
Students, the best practice is to review your schedule for the month once per month AND to review your schedule for the week with your parents/ guardians once per week. Then you should reference your schedule each day to stay on top of your responsibilities. When it comes to time management, I recommend checking out this amazing YouTube video:
Ultimately, we can acknowledge that band keeps students very busy, but in order for us to be successful, we rely on EVERYONE to be present at rehearsals and performances. Band is a team activity, and missing even one player can significantly affect the quality of the performance. Please make sure to prioritize band in your schedule.
Parents, please also review the weekly update each week and the Band Calendar regularly to help your child avoid conflicts. Avoid scheduling Doctor appointments on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. Don't schedule SAT/ ACT testing on days after Football Games or on days where there are Competitions.
Our band is as competitive as our Football Team. We wouldn't be able to play a game without our linebackers, and I don't think Football players just miss practice either. Your kid is a part of a high quality program. Please help make sure your kid makes it to band.

Things to Note 🎵:
AWAY vs. Richmond Hill
Our first away game this year will take place on a SATURDAY instead of a Friday. Please make a special note that SATURDAY, September 10th will be our away game to Georgia. Pending approval from the school district and other necessary parties, we will travel and plan to perform our halftime show there. This game does not take place on campus at Richmond Hill HS, rather the game will be in Brunswick, GA.
Trailer Needed
We are in search of any band parents who own an enclosed trailer who wouldn't mind helping us take items to away games and competitions on an as needed basis. If this is something you might be interested in, please email me at myles.moore@bakerk12.org.

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App.
According to Band App, there was one birthday in June, six birthdays in July, and one last week!
