This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
Wow! It's the seniors' last week as high school students!
As you go through this week, be sure to give some love to the seniors around you! They deserve it!

Also, kudos to all the fantastic Student Staff Interviews, Drum Major Auditions, and Colorguard Auditions!
This week is Pass the Torch Week, so we get to celebrate our Senior Class and welcome our upcoming Freshman Class. I also want you to think about other ways the torch needs to be passed along as we move into next year, though! For example, who plans to fill our Senior's shoes once they set foot on their journey?
Weekly Walkthrough 🧩
Monday, we have Pass the Torch JAZZ Rehearsal from 3pm to 5pm. Students will need to head out immediately after rehearsal ends, as Mr. Moore and Mr. Oyster need to go to a Florida Bandmasters Meeting.
Tuesday, we have Pass the Torch Rehearsal (Everyone)from 4pm to 6pm.
Wednesday, we have a Band Booster Meeting starting at 6;30pm.
Thursday, we have Pass the Torch Rehearsal (Everyone) from 4pm to 6pm.
Friday, we have the Pass the Torch Concert. Call Time is 4:00pm and Concert begins at 6:30pm.
Saturday, we have the Music Department Banquet at 5pm! Each Student will receive a student food ticket and two parent food tickets. At the banquet, others (siblings, aunts, uncles, meemaws, peepaws) will not be able to eat until after students/ staff and parents with tickets have eaten.

Definitions
IPT= Individual Practice Time- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on learning their music, prioritizing the section of music Mr. Moore will work that week FIRST, the section of music being tested next SECOND, and whatever the player knows they are struggling with THIRD. (IPT can be used freely for Percussion Ensemble music OR Concert music, but NOT Jazz Band music).
Floor Time- Percussionists are expected to work out rhythms with their drum sticks while sitting in a Drum Circle on the Floor. Care must be taken to ensure accuracy of rhythm AND that all players are playing (and moving their body) together at the same time.
CMS= Concert Music Sectionals- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on their Concert Music specifically. Sectionals may be self- led or be led by Mr. Moore or a member of leadership. If a percussionist isn't being worked with directly, they should be productive in working through another piece of Concert Music OR their Percussion Ensemble Music.

Seniors, the time is fast approaching for Senior Checklists to be turned in! Your forms will be passed out on Monday, 4/20. Please complete them by 5/8 or receive a performance grade zero.

(As a reminder, these are due by 11:59pm on Mondays).
Birthday Announcements! 🎂
By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App. To do this: Go to our Band App> Settings (Cog on Top Right)> Set Profile> Show My Birthday> Anyone)
