About the Professional Staff

Mr. Myles Moore, M.M.E.

Director of Bands

Mr. Moore, a Jacksonville, FL native, has cultivated a lifelong dedication to music and band leadership rooted in his deep involvement with school music programs from an early age. Building upon these formative experiences, he attended Jacksonville University, where he excelled in a variety of leadership roles, including serving as Drum Major of the Jacksonville University Marching Band. In this role, he demonstrated exceptional musical and organizational leadership while helping establish a culture of discipline, collaboration, and excellence within the ensemble.

​

Mr. Moore currently serves as Director of Bands at Baker County High School, where he has led the program for around a decade. Under his leadership, the program has consistently earned Superior ratings at District and State Music Performance Assessments in both Concert and Jazz Band. Most notably, the Baker County High School Band earned its first-ever Otto J. Kraushaar Award in program history, recognizing Straight Superior ratings in Marching, District Concert, and State Concert Music Performance Assessments.

An advocate for leadership development and organizational excellence, Mr. Moore has provided presentations and mentorship for students and educators alike, drawing upon his experiences in music education, ensemble leadership, and program development. His work reflects a unique combination of musical expertise and practical leadership principles that help students and organizations pursue growth, accountability, and high achievement.

 

Academically, Mr. Moore holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Business from Jacksonville University and a Master of Music Education from Florida State University. His educational background has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of music performance, pedagogy, and organizational leadership, allowing him to bring innovative and student-centered approaches to music education.

​

Professionally, Mr. Moore is an active member of key music education organizations, including the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA), the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA). Within the FBA, he serves as a mentor to fellow band directors, is a member of the Small Schools Committee, serves as a Solo & Ensemble Adjudicator, and currently serves as Coordinator for the FBA 9-10 All-State Concert Band. His professional service reflects a continued commitment to strengthening music education programs and supporting fellow educators throughout the state of Florida.

​

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Moore enjoys attending jazz festivals, gaming, and spending time with friends and family. His passion for music, leadership, and education continues to shape his work both inside and outside the classroom.

Mr. Justin Burnham

Asst. Director of Bands

Mr. Justin, a proud native of Baker County, dedicated his entire high school career to the Wildcat Pride Band. After graduating, he began his journey as a Percussion Instructor and later advanced to the role of Assistant Band Director for the Wildcat Pride Band Program. With over ten years of active involvement, Mr. Justin continues to bring his passion for music and education to the program, inspiring students with his experience and dedication.

In addition to his commitment to the band, Mr. Justin works full-time at the Northeast Florida State Hospital and serves as the President of the Baker County Historical Society, where he pursues his enthusiasm for local history and preservation. Known for his love of history and military marches, Mr. Justin enjoys sharing his knowledge and fostering an appreciation for historical traditions.

Outside of his professional roles, Mr. Justin values quality time with his family, especially his nieces, and enjoys the camaraderie of close friends. His dedication to both his community and family makes him a respected and integral part of the Baker County community.

Mr. Spencer Oyster

Middle School Band Director & Brass Director

Mr. Spencer Oyster serves as the Director of Bands at Baker County Middle School and contributes his expertise as the Brass Director for the Baker County High School Wildcat Pride Marching Band. Now in his fifth year as a music educator, Mr. Oyster brings a wealth of experience from both middle and high school band programs throughout Florida, where he has demonstrated a commitment to musical excellence and student growth.

​

Mr. Oyster’s ensembles consistently achieve Superior ratings at Concert, Jazz, and Marching Music Performance Assessment events, with notable successes at the Florida Marching Band Championships and the Florida Federation of Colorguard Circuit Outdoor Championships. His dedication to refining ensemble performance standards has made a lasting impact on students and their musical achievements.

​

Originally from Tallahassee, FL, Mr. Oyster is an alumnus of Florida State University, where he developed his skill in low brass, specializing in euphonium and trombone. His passion for music extends beyond his primary instruments, as he finds joy in making music in any form. Mr. Oyster’s enthusiasm and experience continue to enrich the Baker County band community, inspiring students to reach their highest potential.

Mrs. Amanda Conner

Majorette Director

Ms. Amanda has proudly served as the sponsor and instructor for the Baker County High School Majorettes for several years, bringing her extensive experience and passion for performance to the program. A 2001 graduate of Baker County High School, Ms. Amanda was actively involved in both majorettes and cheerleading during her high school years. Her commitment to the performing arts continued into college, where she performed as a Gatorette with the Gator Marching Band at the University of Florida from 2001 to 2003.

​

Building on her experience in performance and instruction, Ms. Amanda pursued a Master’s degree and established a successful career as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner. Alongside her medical career, she also worked with the American Twirling Academy as a twirling instructor, further contributing to the art of twirling by mentoring and guiding young performers. In addition, Ms. Amanda has served as a competitive cheerleading coach and beginning gymnastics instructor, showcasing her dedication to helping young athletes develop confidence, discipline, and skill.

​

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Amanda is an outdoor enthusiast who treasures time spent with her two children, Grant and Jayden Filosi. Her dedication to her family and her passion for the performing arts make her an inspiring presence in the Baker County community.

Mrs. Karlie Hodges

Asst. Majorette Sponsor

Mrs. Karlie Hodges is an Assistant Sponsor for the Baker County High School Majorettes, where she brings her own rich history in twirling and cheerleading to the program. A dedicated majorette throughout her middle and high school years, Mrs. Hodges also served as a cheerleader during her senior year. Some of her fondest memories are from her time twirling in high school, where she had the privilege of learning from exceptional coaches, including Ms. Amanda Filosi, the current BCHS Majorette Director. Today, Mrs. Hodges considers it an honor to support Ms. Filosi in her role and is grateful to now call her a friend and colleague.

​

After graduating from high school in 2015, Mrs. Hodges attended the University of Florida, earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Her passion for teaching shines through in every aspect of her life, and she is deeply committed to sharing her love of baton twirling with the youth of Baker County. Alongside her role at BCHS, she is a 4th-grade teacher at Legacy Elementary School and has been a longtime instructor with the All-Star Twirling Academy.

In her personal life, Mrs. Hodges is a devoted wife to her husband, Bo, and a proud mother to her 2-year-old daughter, MadiKay, with a baby boy on the way. She treasures time spent with her family and embraces the many roles she fulfills.

 

Outside of her professional and family commitments, Mrs. Hodges enjoys shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends, bringing a balanced and joyful spirit to all she does.

Ms. Marina Mixon

Colorguard Director

Ms. Marina Mixon is thrilled to begin her first season at Baker County High School as the new Colorguard Director. A proud Baker County native, she moved to Georgia in 2005, where she spent four years performing with the Perry High School Colorguard. She continued her passion at Mercer University in Macon, GA, performing with both the football Colorguard and Winterguard.

​

After graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Studies, Ms. Mixon returned to Mercer to coach at the collegiate level. During her time there, she choreographed football halftime shows, led colorguard showcases, and even launched a basketball colorguard program to energize game-day crowds. She also shared her expertise with the Academy for Classical Education in Macon, coaching their colorguard program.

In 2021, Ms. Mixon returned home to Baker County, where she began teaching 1st grade at Macclenny Elementary School. This fall, she will join the BCHS faculty as a science teacher while also leading the Colorguard. Outside the classroom and the band field, she enjoys running, working as a fitness trainer at Trinity Fitness Macclenny, spending time at the beach, and being with friends.

​

With a lifelong love for the performing arts and a special place in her heart for colorguard, Ms. Mixon is eager to guide this team to new heights—enhancing their skills, building confidence, and making this their best season yet.

Mrs. CeCe Snyder

Percussion Director/ Visual Director

Mrs. CeCe Snyder joins the Baker County High School Band program as the Percussion Director, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for music education. Mrs. Snyder also serves as the Assistant Band Director at Baker County Middle School, Mrs. Snyder has already made a significant impact within the band community.

Throughout her musical career, Mrs. Snyder has performed with distinguished ensembles, including the United States Public Health and Services Corps, JE1, FSCJ bands, JU bands, UNF bands, Drum and Bugle Corps, WGI, and currently, the First Coast Wind Symphony. She has had the privilege of performing under the direction of esteemed conductors such as Robert Shelton, Rossano Galante, and Rodney Wynkoop, each experience contributing to her well-rounded musical expertise.

In the summer of 2025, Mrs. Snyder toured Budapest and Prague with the First Coast Wind Symphony, further expanding her performance experience internationally. Beyond her professional pursuits, she enjoys dancing, traveling, and exploring theme parks, bringing a vibrant enthusiasm to both her work and her personal life.
