This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
Students, please do me a favor and make sure your friends are reading this weekly update! I've received a lot of questions about different items that were addressed on the weekly update which creates two problems for me:
It creates an unnecessary distraction on my part from completing things to help make your band experience better.
It makes me question the benefit of making these updates if people are just going to come up and ask me about the same points anyways.
It's my recommendation that on Sunday or Monday nights, students AND parents read the updates together to make sure everyone is on the same page. Taking 5- 10 minutes to do this once per week will help life run smoother for everyone! Occasionally, there WILL be questions, and that's why your section leader is usually only a text away.
Conversely, there are some matters that need to skip leadership and come DIRECTLY to the Band Director. These might include health and safety related matters, attendance matters, and emergency matters.
Parents and Students, I expect you to use your best judgement when it comes to asking questions. If you have "band questions" like "What time to I need to be there?" or "Do I need to wear black socks?", those can go to section leaders and student staff (but can usually be answered by reviewing your weekly update).
If the concern is "I don't feel safe because a student is bullying me" or "I'm not able to go to rehearsal because I'm projectile vomiting everywhere", then that's something you should let me know directly.
We need band parents to volunteer for the band concession stand for this Friday!

Things to Note 🎵:
AWAY vs. Richmond Hill
Our first away game this year will take place on a SATURDAY instead of a Friday. Please make a special note that SATURDAY, September 10th will be our away game to Georgia. Pending approval from the school district and other necessary parties, we will travel and plan to perform our halftime show there. This game does not take place on campus at Richmond Hill HS, rather, the game will be in Brunswick, GA.
Trailer Needed
We are in search of any band parents who own an enclosed trailer who wouldn't mind helping us take items to away games and competitions on an as needed basis. If this is something you might be interested in, please email me at myles.moore@bakerk12.org.

Gym Shorts/ Band Shorts (Don't try to wear anything else. The uniforms get hot and wearing anything else under the bibbers will not go over well. You may not wear just underwear under your bibbers.)
Crew Length Black Socks (Please research what this means if you don't know!)
Band Shoes (Will hopefully be in by Friday)
Birthday Announcements!
By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App.
