Weekly Update (10/12- 10/17)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
Go Jags!
DID YOU SEE THAT WIN TODAY?!?! HOLY MOLY!
It's Homecoming Week! Please enjoy all the festivities, but also be sure to read the info below carefully as it pertains to this week. You'll need to follow the directions for this week carefully. Uniforms will be getting Dry Cleaned after this week.
This week, we have a HOME game vs Fort White HS (Homecoming)! We will NOT be performing our halftime show at the football game because we are performing it at Cat Growl. We'll be wearing "Pep Uniform" at the Parades and Cat Growl, which is your Band Shirt, Gym Shorts, Long Black Socks, Band Shoes, Bibbers, and Band Ball Cap. We'll wear full uniform at the Football Game.
Weekly Walkthrough 🧩
Monday, we have an After School Rehearsal from 3pm to 7pm.
Tuesday, we have an After School Rehearsal from 3pm to 7pm.
Wednesday, there are no activities scheduled.
Thursday, we have two parades—the NEFSH Parade and the Homecoming Parade. One will be during the school day, and the other is after school.
NEFSH Parade-- I will have you called to the band room (around 9am or so) for the NEFSH Parade. We will don our Uniforms and then bus over to the Florida State Hospital to perform. (We will parade in pep uniforms and we should have our ball caps). We will perform then head back to the high school. Please come to school dressed as closely to your under uniform (Band Shirt, Gym Shorts, Black Socks, Band Shoes) as possible. I understand we may not wish to wear band shorts and shoes to school, which is fine, but you need to be able to change QUICKLY into them. These events get too hot to be wearing anything else under your uniform.
Homecoming Parade-- After School, your call time for the parade will be 4:00pm behind the old courthouse which you can find near the corner of E Shuey Ave and S Second Street, (NOT AT THE BAND ROOM). (You will need to arrange your own transportation here as there is no bus for the homecoming parade.)
You should arrive here in your pep uniform, and then we will warm up and march the parade. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT STUDENTS DRINK PLENTY OF WATER AND HYDRATE BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE PARADE. WATER IS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL WE ARRIVE AT THE FOOTBALL STADIUM (Mrs. Luke, would you be able to make sure the concession stand is open when we arrive?). Once we arrive at the football stadium, we will perform our halftime show at Cat Growl. After we have performed and everyone has helped make sure our trailer is loaded with our equipment, we are good to go (No need to ask when you may leave).
Friday, we have a Full Band Morning Performance, 6:45am Call Time! Let's hype up the school! We also have a Homecoming Pep Rally during the school day! You will need to wear your (freshly washed and dried) band shirt and blue jeans during the school day. We also have HOME vs. Fort White HS. 4:00pm Call Time.

Percussion Class Weekly Plan 🥁
Day of Week | Plan |
Monday | No School |
Tuesday | All: Movement 3 with Mr. Moore |
Wednesday | All: Movement 3 with Mr. Moore |
Thursday | IPT/MMS |
Friday | Play Tests/ MMS on Movement 3 |
Definitions
IPT= Individual Practice Time- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on learning their music, prioritizing the section of music Mr. Moore will work that week FIRST, the section of music being tested next SECOND, and whatever the player knows they are struggling with THIRD. (IPT can be used freely for Percussion Ensemble music OR Concert music, but NOT Jazz Band music).
Floor Time- Percussionists are expected to work out rhythms with their drum sticks while sitting in a Drum Circle on the Floor. Care must be taken to ensure accuracy of rhythm AND that all players are playing (and moving their body) together at the same time.
MMS/CMS= Marching Music Sectionals/ Concert Music Sectionals- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on their Music specifically. Sectionals may be self- led or be led by Mr. Moore or a member of leadership. If a percussionist isn't being worked with directly, they should be productive in working through another piece of their music.

Things to Note 🎵:
Baker County Fair Booth Sign Up
The fair is approaching very quickly! We need volunteers to help out in our booth. Please take a minute to sign up for a shift.
Students - to give everyone a chance to be able to volunteer please do not sign up for every shift. We are only allowed to have 10 people in the booth per shift, so we only have room for six students on each shift.
Please don't just show up for a shift without signing up.
Students will not be allowed to work the fryer, the grill or the cash box.
That Friday night will be a home game, senior night, so we are declaring that Middle School night.
You may sign up HERE.
(Due by 11:59pm on Tuesday because Monday is an off day)

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App.
According to Band App, there are no birthdays this week... 😔
Let's have a great week everyone!
