Weekly Update (5/13- 5/17)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

It’s crazy to believe that the Seniors are gone and it’s Graduation Week!

Congratulations, Seniors! If you’re reading this, know that I wish you all the best moving forward! I know you’ll do great!

Farewell Mr. Keel!

This Past Week, Mr. Keel formally announced that he is leaving Baker County Middle School.

I am very sad to share the news with you all that I will not be returning to BCMS this next year, as I will be moving to North Carolina.
You all are part of my family and I will always have a place in my heart for each of you. And I will always think back on my time at BCMS as some of the best memories I have. This band has been my life since 2020 and it means a lot to me.
I will miss you all dearly and while I am sad that our time together is coming to an end, the only choice we have is whether we look back with regret or with joy for the time we had together.
That being said, I want to see you all flourish and the band programs of this county flourish. I’ve always told you that the band is bigger than any one person and I mean that, so I want to see you all continue on this path with Mr. Moore and the new director that will come in. I hope you all embrace this change with love, kindness and respect for the next Director and Mr. Moore.
I know that Mr. Moore and the admin team are working hard to find the very best director possible because they love this band program and these students and they want to see the band program continue to become something special.
I love you all and I know this will be a hard time for some— it’s especially been difficult for me; but my door is open and I’m always happy to talk or listen when I’m available. My last wish is for us to continue to grow and love one another in the last weeks of school.

Be sure to take some time to tell Mr. Keel how much you appreciate and wish him well as he heads on to his new phase of life!

We’ll miss you, Mr. Keel!

If you missed COMMITMENT NIGHT, please don’t forget to reach out to Mr. Moore soon! Band Dues for the upcoming school year are due by the last day of school. We’ve changed the format so that now payment Band Dues determines drill assignments for the halftime show. In other words, if your child doesn’t have their band dues paid for the upcoming school year or is not on a payment plan, they may not have a spot on the field right away.

There was also some paperwork that was completed on that day that would need to be turned in, so that would also need to be turned in.
