Weekly Update (12/1- 12/6)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! I just CANNOT believe we are in the home stretch for Christmas Break!! Are you excited?

I hope you got as much rest as possible during Thanksgiving Break because admittedly we will be thrust right into three busy weeks before we get any downtime. I'm relying hard on everyone's mental sharpness and individual effort to make sure that we succeed in all our performance obligations!

That all said, please be ready for a relatively focused and intense few days as we try to meet our goals in a short span of time. The Christmas Concert always seems to creep up on us, but I think we generally always do well-- I want to keep that trend going.

Weekly Walkthrough

Monday, Drumline and a Small Marching Ensemble perform at the Wrestling Meet. Call Time is 4pm so we can briefly rehearse the Star Spangled Banner and some Stands Tunes. Wear your Pep Attire (BALL CAP, Band Shirt, BIBBERS, Band Shoes).

Tuesday, there is a Wind Ensemble Rehearsal from 4pm to 6pm. Afterwards, there is a Winterguard Mandatory Parent Meeting at 6:30pm for those who earned placement on the team.

Wednesday, there are no activities scheduled.

Thursday, we have the FSU Prism Concert. Things you need to know:

• Mrs. Robin Johnson and Mr. Jud Johnson (BCHS teachers and former band parents) will act in my place and handle attendance and bus navigation.

• Jacob Ballinger and I will already be in Tallahassee for FSU Tri-State; I will meet you there.

• Once you arrive, I will take you to the Suwannee Room for dinner and then to Ruby Diamond for the concert.

• After the concert, the chaperones will bring you back home.

• Drum Majors and the Quartermaster will help manage the trip.

• Call Time: 3:00 PM; Bus departs 3:15–3:30 PM.

• Dress nicely (not concert blacks). Direct questions about attire to uniform managers or captains.

• BCHS ADMIN RESERVE THE RIGHT TO RESTRICT YOU FROM GOING (WITHOUT REFUND) IF YOUR GRADES/ATTENDANCE/BEHAVIOR DON'T PERMIT. Please make sure your business is handled.

Friday, we have no activities scheduled.

Saturday, we have the Lighted Christmas Parade. Please meet behind the restaurant called "The Coop" at 4pm where you will don your full marching uniform (jackets). Make a stop at walmart or dollar general sometime this week and purchase some cheap battery powered led lights to put on you or your instrument! Section Coordination is even better! (PLEASE DO NOT PUT ANY KIND OF TAPE ON YOUR INSTRUMENT-- YOU'LL RIP THE LACQUER OFF). It may be cold, so please prepare accordingly! Also, instead of shakos, be prepared to wear a Christmas hat (we have some you can borrow if you don't have one!) I will still be in Tallahassee, so Mr. Burnham will be in charge.

Birthday Announcements!

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App. To do this: Go to our Band App> Settings (Cog on Bottom Right)> Set Profile> Show My Birthday> Anyone)

According to Band App, over the break we had three birthdays and this week we have one birthday!

Happy Birthday to Zoey Newmans (11/24), Bryan Kite (11/25), Sofia Rullan (11/30), and Band Booster President Jennifer Luke (12/5)!
