This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
**Please Read This Entire Update Carefully**
Welcome back! I hope your spring break was restful and fun—I know mine was! Mr. Oyster, Mrs. Snyder, and I all got to soak up some sunshine, and I’m feeling totally recharged and excited to dive into these next six weeks with you!
I say six weeks because, for me at least, it’s basically a non-stop band adventure until our End-of-Year Trip to Atlanta! 🎉 Speaking of the trip—just a friendly reminder to stay on top of your grades and attendance. These are super important, and even if you’ve paid, falling short in those areas can keep you from being able to go.
Also, don’t forget about your band commitments! We all signed that contract at the beginning of the year, but more importantly, being reliable and showing up for your section and the team matters. Missing too many commitments could also affect your eligibility for the trip—and we definitely want to see everyone there enjoying the fun!
Let’s make these last few weeks awesome—Atlanta, here we come! 🥁✨
I’ll be real with you—the next few weeks are going to be a whirlwind. Between our high-stakes performances and a full slate of upcoming events—Music Ensemble Auditions, Percussion Auditions, Colorguard and Majorette Auditions, Leadership Auditions, Drum Major Auditions, fundraisers, and oh yeah… GRADUATION—it’s a lot.
It’s going to be really easy to feel stressed, overwhelmed, or even a little on edge. Emotions might run high, and things are going to move LIGHTNING FAST. In the middle of all that, it can be tempting to make snap decisions or jump to conclusions—but I’m asking you to lean into emotional maturity and patience as much as you can.
We’re all in this together, working toward being our best. Let’s show up for each other, lift each other up, and finish strong!
Weekly Walkthrough
Monday, it's a Teacher's Planning Day! There is a Leadership Monday scheduled today BUT we need to change the date (I missed that today was a planning day when I scheduled the Leadership Mondays). The meeting will be moved to Tuesday, March 25th. If you are unable to attend due to a conflict, please email me to let me know. Attendance conflicts will not be counted against those unable to attend.
Tuesday, there are student led sectionals going on with various times. Band Room closes at 4:30pm. (Stage Managers, I need to meet with you at some point after school to discuss Small Ensemble Approvals.)
Wednesday, Mr. Moore will be at BCMS during the day. Today will be Small Ensemble Approval Day with your Stage Managers. Stage Managers, I need to see you from 2:45pm to 4pm today to work out an operating schedule for the concert.
Thursday, we have the All Ensembles Timing Rehearsal from 3pm to 6pm. This is required for ALL BAND MEMBERS! After this rehearsal, Stage Managers, we will need to have our scheduling adjustment meeting. This is a CRUCIAL meeting where we determine the errors in our initial schedule and work to set the official schedule for the concert. It may go a little later than we want. Please plan accordingly.
Friday, Jazz Ensemble has a rehearsal from 1:40pm to 4pm.
Saturday, it's State Solo and Ensemble! Please check out THIS LINK for the Itinerary. That link will also be updated if any information changes.

Percussion Mandatory Meeting

Professional Staff Change
Mr. Forrest Elledge has informed me of his decision to step down from his role as Front Ensemble Director. I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the dedication, passion, and hard work he has poured into our percussion program. His contributions have played a significant role in the growth and success of our section, and we are truly thankful for the impact he has made.
Looking ahead, I’m pleased to share that Mrs. CeCe Snyder will be stepping into the role of Percussion Director, in addition to continuing her work as Visual Director. We’re excited for the leadership and vision she brings to both areas as we move forward.
