This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
We're in the home stretch! Keep fighting!
This is the last weekly update before the new year! I know we're working toward making it to Christmas Break, but please make sure you set aside time to pick up your instrument over the break as well. Everyone should have their Solo and Ensemble piece in by now, so it'll be important that you start practicing that music, since Solo and Ensemble is coming up quick.
Weekly Walkthrough
Monday, Winterguard has practice from 3pm to 5pm. We also have Christmas Concert Dress Rehearsal from 3pm to 6pm. This is for all members of Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band as well at Percussionists.
Tuesday, we have our Christmas Concert. Call time is 4pm for all students. The concert will begin at 6:30pm. This year, the Christmas Concert is graded twice. Participation and performance at the concert is your Final Exam grade, while helping your section complete their responsibilities will count as another performance grade. Everyone needs to do their part before and after the concert to earn the performance grade:
Clarinets/ Trumpets/ Low Brass: Set Up and Tear Down Cafeteria Tables, VIP Seats, and Audience Chairs
Bass Clarinets/ Tubas: Cleaning Band Room and Concert Hall Decoration
Horns/ Saxophones: Stage Transitions and Lights
Flutes: Sweeping Floors, Removing Trash, and Cleaning Band Room
There will be a sign out sheet. Ask your captain permission to leave and they will let you know if your section is done or not. Leaders will record on the sheet when each section finished their responsibilities. If your time is not marked correctly or reflects that you did not leave after things were finished, you'll receive a zero.
Wednesday, Winterguard has practice from 3pm to 5pm.
Thursday, there are no activities scheduled.
Friday, the BCHS Jazz Ensemble travels to MES during the school day. The Music Department Christmas Party is also today starting when school ends (remember, it's a half day!)
Saturday and Sunday, we have a gift wrapping fundraiser in front of Walmart. BAND PARENTS--- DID YOU KNOW that a few weekends ago we raised $1100 dollars doing this for two days? Do you realize we need parents to help run the table and supervise the students? This is good, quick money and all it really involved is wrapping some presents. Band Parents, if you're available, we could use some help these days so students are monitored. Please reach out to Jennifer Luke at president@bakercountybands.org if you're available. Even an hour or two would make a huge difference, and the more parents who help, the smaller shifts needed!

Concert Band Camp

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App. To do this: Go to our Band App> Settings (Cog on Bottom Right)> Set Profile> Show My Birthday> Anyone)
