This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

It's MPA Week!

For our band, MPA Week is also Director Appreciation week. Please make sure to express your thanks toward our band staff members for all the hard work they've put in to help make you into the band you are this season. It takes a village to build a band program, and I know I am so appreciative for all their help. We have continued to grow into a robust program this year, and we'll only keep growing from here! Those staffers and their tenures in our program are:

Justin Burnham, Assistant Director, 16 years

Amanda Conner, Majorette Director, 15 years

Spencer Oyster, Brass Director, 3 years

CeCe Snyder, Percussion Director, 3 years

Craig Abercrombie, Visual Designer, 2 years

Marina Mixon, Colorguard Director, 2 years

Saturday is MPA Day, which means we'll be doing our most sacred traditions before we go take care of business at Bradford High School.

Seniors, please make sure you've filled out your senior will! Also, all band members should look at binging something for the pasta potluck! (Links Below)

I also want to put a huge THANK YOU out to all those booster parents who helped put together and run our Baker County Fair Booth happen. Your time and effort is truly appreciated! We love and thank you!

Play Tests/ IPT/ MMS

Definitions

  • IPT= Individual Practice Time- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on learning their music, prioritizing the section of music Mr. Moore will work that week FIRST, the section of music being tested next SECOND, and whatever the player knows they are struggling with THIRD. (IPT can be used freely for Percussion Ensemble music OR Concert music, but NOT Jazz Band music).

  • Floor Time- Percussionists are expected to work out rhythms with their drum sticks while sitting in a Drum Circle on the Floor. Care must be taken to ensure accuracy of rhythm AND that all players are playing (and moving their body) together at the same time.

  • MMS/CMS= Marching Music Sectionals/ Concert Music Sectionals- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on their Music specifically. Sectionals may be self- led or be led by Mr. Moore or a member of leadership. If a percussionist isn't being worked with directly, they should be productive in working through another piece of their music.

Things to Note 🎵:

Senior Wills

Seniors, each year, a publication of the Senior Wills goes out for students to read on the bus ride to MPA. You should submit your Senior Will using the link on the band app (or the link HERE). You can leave funny or meaningful things to any student or staff member in the band. What you bequeath does not have to be a real item—it can be a joke, or a sort role you played in the band (ie. The math wiz, or the comedian).

You may resubmit this form as many times as you need, but only the MOST RECENTLY SUBMITTED form will be published.

Pasta Potluck

Please sign up HERE to bring something to the Pasta Potluck! This is staple MPA tradition where our band families bring pasta and desserts for us all to enjoy together. It connects our households and our hearts. Please be sure to sign up if you plan to bring something. We would like to avoid too much of the same thing being brought to the potluck. (But we also don't want to not have enough!)

A reminder: You don’t need to bring a band- sized portion of pasta. Just cook enough for your family and maybe just a little more than that. If the sign up fills up, that should be plenty of food. If you sign up to bring bread, bring enough for 2 families (we like to eat bread). If you sign up to bring soda bring at least two 2 liters or 2 boxes of cans. If you sign up to bring dessert, bring enough for 1 family. If you sign up to bring paper products, bring enough for 1 family.

(Due by 11:59pm on Monday)

Birthday Announcements!

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App.

According to Band App, there are three birthdays this week!

Happy Birthday to Ella Rosas (10/25), Liam Combs (10/26), and Sophia Buck (10/26)!

Let's have a great week everyone!

And GOOOOOO WILDCATS!
