This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
I'm sure we are all feeling a little off from Friday's Football Game. I totally understand. Too many unexpected things happened for one game, and it was just a weird night. It was like being in the twilight zone. The best advice I can give you is to brush it off, take a deep breath, and keep pushing forward. That's all we can do, right?
I do want to take some time to thank all those who helped with the Fair Concession Stand! We still don't know our total profits exactly, but I do know that it takes a lot of time, effort, and people to make it run efficiently! I'm not even going to begin to name all the people who have helped, but I do want all of you to know how thankful Mr. Oyster and I both are that you helped whatever role(s) you played in making this effort happen. The raffle for the gift card should happen sometime this week.
Which reminds me-- if you have money for the Booster Raffle Ticket Fundraiser, please turn that in directly to Mrs. Luke or Mr. Wickham, or pass it to me to pass along to Mrs. Luke BEFORE FRIDAY!
Concert Attire $$$ was also due on Saturday. If you have not yet turned in those funds, please do so ASAP! If you need to know how much you owe, please reach out to me via email.
We are approaching the end of Marching Season! It definitely has been a wild ride, but please don't lose your momentum yet! We need to make it to Saturday!
This Friday, we celebrate our Seniors both for senior night and our traditions for MPA day on Saturday. Please take some time to reflect on the contributions this Senior Class has made for the band program over the years and especially for this Marching Season. We couldn't be here without them. Line up for the event is 6:00pm, and it begins at 6:15pm. Traditionally/ Historically, we get there in time for Seniors to go do their thing, so there shouldn’t be any concerns about us arriving on time. Seniors should wear their full uniform (including Jacket, no Shako) for Senior Night.
We also get to celebrate and spend time with the Rookies! These cats seem so excited to be a part of the high school band and so we should be excited to spend the day with them!
Let's have a great MPA Week, everyone!

Things to Note 🎵:
Senior Wills
Seniors, each year, a publication of the Senior Wills goes out for students to read on the bus ride to MPA. You should submit your Senior Will using the link on the band app (or the link HERE). You can leave funny or meaningful things to any student or staff member in the band. What you bequeath does not have to be a real item—it can be a joke, or a sort role you played in the band (ie. The math wiz, or the comedian).
You may resubmit this form as many times as you need, but only the MOST RECENTLY SUBMITTED form will be published.
Pasta Potluck
Please sign up HERE to bring something to the Pasta Potluck! This is staple MPA tradition where our band families bring pasta and desserts for us all to enjoy together. It connects our households and our hearts. Please be sure to sign up if you plan to bring something. We would like to avoid too much of the same thing being brought to the potluck. A reminder: You don’t need to bring a band sized portion of pasta. Just cook enough for your family and maybe just a little more than that. If the sign up fills up, that should be plenty of food. If you sign up to bring bread, bring enough for 2 families (we like to eat bread). If you sign up to bring soda bring at least two 2 liters or 2 boxes of cans. If you sign up to bring dessert, bring enough for 1 family. If you sign up to bring paper products, bring enough for 1 family.
NFHB Auditions
Wind Ensemble, Symphonic, and Percussion Students will be preparing the contents of the High School NFHB Audition for chair placements which will be in the first week of October. In theory, if you prepare for our chair placements, you are mostly ready for the NFHB Auditions in November.
I recommend that everyone work on their scales first, which can be found HERE. In most auditions, scales are worth the most points.
