This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

Everyone, please wish Jacob Ballinger the best as he travels with me to Tampa for the Florida Music Educators Conference, where he will participate in the High School Honors Band!

This also means Mr. Moore will be gone Wednesday- Friday.

This historically has been a HUGE opportunity for students to get ahead on their Concert MPA music, so I hope you all will take advantage. Work together to push far ahead. No socializing or playing video games. Focus on your Concert MPA music (focus on your solos at home or after school).

Weekly Walkthrough 🧩

Monday, there is Winterguard practice from 3:00pm to 5pm. The Band Room will close around 4:30pm. It's also "Mr. Moore and Marcus Monday" until 3:30pm🥁!

Tuesday, there is Symphonic Band Rehearsal from 4pm to 6pm. Moving forward, when we're rehearsing after school, Percussionists may leave early ONLY if they do not have any more pieces they are performing on. The order for rehearsal this week is Chester, Liberty, and Twilight. Are the Drum Majors available after rehearsal to go over running a Basketball Game with me?

Wednesday, there is Winterguard practice from 3pm to 5pm.

Thursday, there are no activities scheduled.

Friday, there is Winterguard practice from 3pm to 5pm. For those involved with the Pep Band (Jacob B will work with David to ensure there is a functional group), there is a Basketball Game we are performing at. Mr. Justin will be in charge. Call time is 3:30pm and Attire is Jeans, Band Shirt, and Ball Cap. You'll need to be in the Gym by 4pm for pregame.

Saturday, Winterguard goes to Premieres at Innovation HS in Orlando!

Definitions

  • IPT= Individual Practice Time- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on learning their music, prioritizing the section of music Mr. Moore will work that week FIRST, the section of music being tested next SECOND, and whatever the player knows they are struggling with THIRD. (IPT can be used freely for Percussion Ensemble music OR Concert music, but NOT Jazz Band music).

  • Floor Time- Percussionists are expected to work out rhythms with their drum sticks while sitting in a Drum Circle on the Floor. Care must be taken to ensure accuracy of rhythm AND that all players are playing (and moving their body) together at the same time.

  • CMS= Concert Music Sectionals- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on their Concert Music specifically. Sectionals may be self- led or be led by Mr. Moore or a member of leadership. If a percussionist isn't being worked with directly, they should be productive in working through another piece of Concert Music OR their Percussion Ensemble Music.
