Weekly Update (9/21- 25)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
I'm so proud of the All State Students for going and doing their best at the All State Auditions!
And now NFHB Auditions are in less than THREE short weeks!
Have you been practicing?
Last year, BCHS had the most students in the ensemble! Let's all try our best to do it again!
I want us all to succeed, so this means everyone auditioning needs to be ready to put their best foot forward for auditions!
Don't forget about Band Pictures!
Band Pictures are this week! The photographer is only going to be there THAT ONE DAY during school, so please do what you can to be present that day! (Otherwise, there's no evidence you ever existed!)
If you haven't already, you'll want to "git yur hur did an yur makup awn". 💄

Definitions
IPT= Individual Practice Time- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on learning their music, prioritizing the section of music Mr. Moore will work that week FIRST, the section of music being tested next SECOND, and whatever the player knows they are struggling with THIRD. (IPT can be used freely for Percussion Ensemble music OR Concert music, but NOT Jazz Band music).
Floor Time- Percussionists are expected to work out rhythms with their drum sticks while sitting in a Drum Circle on the Floor. Care must be taken to ensure accuracy of rhythm AND that all players are playing (and moving their body) together at the same time.
MMS/CMS= Marching Music Sectionals/ Concert Music Sectionals- Percussionists are expected to work diligently on their Music specifically. Sectionals may be self- led or be led by Mr. Moore or a member of leadership. If a percussionist isn't being worked with directly, they should be productive in working through another piece of their music.

Things to Note 🎵:
All State Auditions!
All State Auditions are steadily approaching! Are you preparing an audition? Even if not, you should check out the audition music and practice it! It is available for FREE in our Library, and you can become a better musician!
If you are auditioning, please make sure to keep checking the FBA Website for corrections so you can adjust! The music on our website IS NOT up to date with any corrections, so if there is something you need, please come talk to me immediately so I can help! There's nothing worse than showing up to the audition room only to find out you've prepared the wrong thing! Please make sure everything is correct!
North Florida Honor Band Auditions!
North Florida Honor Band Auditions are fast approaching! Anyone in band may prepare an audition. Auditions will be recorded at BCHS on October 5th after school.
Auditions consist of 7 Major Scales, a Chromatic Scale, and a Prepared Piece, with more materials for those auditioning on percussion. All materials have been passed out.
All Students in Wind Ensemble are required to audition; Members of Symphonic Band and Percussion may audition optionally.
(Due by 11:59pm on Tuesday)
Birthday Announcements!
By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App.
According to Band App, there are no birthdays this week... 😔
Let's have a great week everyone!
