Weekly Update (10/11- 10/16)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

Man, what a busy week you guys had. I feel an overwhelming sense of pride in you for all your hard work! I just hope you feel that same pride in yourselves. I know there may be some disappointment with the results of the competition, but I think that outperforming a little more than half the bands present is a very strong first showing! Now we have commentary that will help us as we get ready for our next competition and Music Performance Assessment.

I plan to reward your hard work with a day of rest tomorrow (Monday) during class. The only thing that needs to happen is the Trailer needs to be emptied. If you have switch controllers, bring them. Tomorrow, I will bring my Nintendo switch for you guys to play games on and take another day just mentally recuperate from last week. You can also use my class periods to catch up on work from other classes or just rest. You’ve earned it, cats. We’ll work on Tuesday.

I wanted to also take a second to express my sincere thanks for all the band parents who helped make last week’s activities so successful! Band Parents make the world go round! From being ready to go with Water and Popsicles for our hot band kids after the homecoming parade, to helping coordinate food and running our band concession stand, to chaperoning and helping provide breakfast items for our students on competition day, I am without words to describe how thankful I am for sharing your time with our band kiddos. Thank You!!!

Saturday is the competition at Nease.

Nease Competition—The itinerary for this event is posted HERE. You should plan to bring money to spend on concessions. About $20 to $30 is plenty. I have not received a concessions menu from Nease. Chaperone spots are limited and will be going first to parents who volunteer at the band concession stand. I believe ticket purchases will be done in person.
