Weekly Update (9/25- 9/29)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

The show went really well on Friday! Kudos!

Also, UF Band Day was really fun! I think all those who attended had a lot of fun! (Even if we had to wear ugly orange all day 🙄)

Competition season is oncoming QUICKLY! In fact, we have our first competition in 12 days as of today (Sept 24th). Some things you need to keep on top of:

  1. You will be very busy. Stay on top of school work.

  2. Rehearsals are more important than ever. Don't miss rehearsal!!

  3. Your health is important. Avoid sickness, be sure to eat nutritious meals and drink plenty of water, and don't do anything that would result in injury.

  4. The level of expectation only gets higher from here. We want to be successful competitively, and we want to impress our audiences. HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE.

  5. Because of the increased expectations, it usually happens that October sees us getting more hostile toward one another. Remember to love one another and to be respectful.

This week, we plan to perform our halftime show at West Nassau HS. I will let you know if we are told otherwise by our hosts.

Band-- we do need help transporting our equipment from venue to venue. If someone has a trailer (enclosed or unenclosed) and a truck AND doesn't mind following us to away venues/ competitions..... would you email me at myles.moore@bakerk12.org? Thanks!

Things to Note 🎵:

Student Meals @ Home FB Games

Parents/Students-- This year we are offering student meals for $5. These meals will include either a hot dog or a hamburger, chips and a drink. We wanted to try something new this season, in the past some students weren't able to get food because the concession lines were so long that they would be late getting back to the stands. We are pre-selling these meals until noon the day of the game. You may prepay for a meal by going to the band website bakercountybands.org/events. If you go to the website to order make sure you are purchasing under the high school band.

You will have the choice to buy a ticket for a meal for each game if you would like. Unfortunately, you will have to purchase each game meal individually. Each week, we will have a list of the students that have purchased meals and pack them up and deliver them to the stands during 3rd quarter. Each week I will put out a reminder to give everyone a chance to purchase a meal. Students, if you purchase a meal, please make sure you send me a message or leave a comment on the reminder of what you would like to have as your drink. If you have any questions please reach out.

Band Procedures

Please be sure to review the band procedures. We are officially using them upon the start of school and there is no grace period. Take special care to review procedures on In Class/ Music Rehearsal, Attendance Conflicts, and After School Band Rehearsals.
