This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

Are you ready for another week of band?

Congrats on a great showing last week! We now have four rehearsals to prepare the rest of the show for our next home game which will also be rookie night! Fun!

This week, we have an Away game vs Baldwin HS! We will not be performing our halftime show this week.

Reminder about Play Tests

Play tests can be made up, but each type has a deadline:

Rhythm Sheets: End of the Quarter

Stands Tunes: End of the Quarter

Dot Books: Following Tuesday

Binder Checks: Following Tuesday

Update:

Show Music: You can now make these up until MPA, however starting this week, if a student does not pass their Show Music play test, they will be benched from performing the halftime show until they pass it. Play Tests of the Show will also start going in the Gradebook as a Performance (Unit Test) grade instead of a Assignment grade.

Why? Because our band is raising the bar. Excellence on the field depends on every single member knowing their part and pulling their weight. I want students to have more opportunities to recover and succeed, however everyone needs to understand how vital their individual role is to the whole. We succeed—or struggle—as a team, and everyone’s preparation matters.

Monday, there are no events scheduled.

Tuesday, we have an After School Rehearsal from 3pm to 6pm.

Wednesday, there are no events scheduled.

Thursday, we have After School Rehearsal from 4pm to 7pm.

Friday, we have AWAY vs. Baldwin HS. 4:00pm Call Time. Please meet at the band room wearing a Wildcat Shirt (it’s unlikely we’ll have shirts yet), Gym Shorts, Long Black Socks, and your Band Shoes.

All State Auditions!

All State Auditions are steadily approaching! Are you preparing an audition? Even if not, you should check out the audition music and practice it! It is available for FREE on our website, and you can become a better musician!

If you are auditioning, please make sure to keep checking the FBA Website for corrections so you can adjust! The music on our website IS NOT up to date with any corrections, so if there is something you need, please come talk to me immediately so I can help! There's nothing worse than showing up to the audition room only to find out you've prepared the wrong thing! Please make sure everything is correct!

We will have mock auditions on Monday so you can practice auditioning and get some feedback.

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App. To do this: Go to our Band App> Settings (Cog on Bottom Right)> Set Profile> Show My Birthday> Anyone)
