Weekly Update (9/10- 9/8)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

Congratulations to all our All State Auditioning Students:

  • Kyle Binion

  • Kensey Eldridge

  • Evan Harris

  • Alekzander Tsaregorodtsev

I think everyone did fine, and I'm glad that these students underwent the process. Doing All State Auditions is worthwhile because you grow so much along the way. I hope these students will take what they have learned in the process and apply it toward other opportunities as they arise.

How about them Noles?

annnnnnnd how about them Jags?

We are officially into concert mode this week. Be reminded that everyone needs to turn in their $16 for their band book. I'm going to be placing that order tomorrow. Thursdays will be Marching Days and Fridays will be Test Days.

Tomorrow was supposed to be the dealine for S/E piece selections but I just realized I never posted the link. The updated due date will be this Friday, September 15th. Here is the link: https://forms.gle/UmM42jBXsVoAxVxK9

You will need to submit that form and have your music in hand or show that you have ordered your music by Friday. This is part of the project that is for everyone in a band class.

Weekly Walkthrough

Monday, it's Dairy Queen Band Night! We will be hanging out/ playing from 3:30pm to 9pm. Because it seems like there is more energy around this fundraiser, I would like to have the full band there. You can bring your homework and such, we won't play the entire time, but I would like to play the show music at least twice that night. I also want to be able to play stands tunes and cadences regularly. We want to make a lot of noise and drum up a lot of business!

Tuesday, there is a Brass Sectional from 2:30- 3:30pm. We also have an After School Rehearsal from 4pm to 7pm. We also have a booster meeting from 6:30pm to 7:30pm-- come on by since you already have to be there to pick up your students from rehearsal!

Wednesday, ain't nothing going on.

Thursday, we have an After School Rehearsal from 4pm to 7pm.

Friday, we have AWAY vs. Baldwin HS. For Attire, I would like for us to wear Ball Caps, any Wildcat Gear Shirt, Gym Shorts, Bibbers, and Band Shoes. We are really close to having our pep uniform ready-- I'm just waiting on band shirts. We will not be performing our halftime show here. You will be fed, but I don't know what yet.

Leadership Meeting Info

Reading: Everyone needs to arrive having read Building Blocks 15 and Mortars 1 and 2.

Please communicate matter you want to discuss with the QM BEFORE the day of the meeting so we can discuss it altogether. This just helps everything run more smoothly.

Things to Note 🎵:

Student Meals @ Home FB Games

Parents/Students-- This year we are offering student meals for $5. These meals will include either a hot dog or a hamburger, chips and a drink. We wanted to try something new this season, in the past some students weren't able to get food because the concession lines were so long that they would be late getting back to the stands. We are pre-selling these meals until noon the day of the game. You may prepay for a meal by going to the band website bakercountybands.org/events. If you go to the website to order make sure you are purchasing under the high school band.

You will have the choice to buy a ticket for a meal for each game if you would like. Unfortunately, you will have to purchase each game meal individually. Each week, we will have a list of the students that have purchased meals and pack them up and deliver them to the stands during 3rd quarter. Each week I will put out a reminder to give everyone a chance to purchase a meal. Students, if you purchase a meal, please make sure you send me a message or leave a comment on the reminder of what you would like to have as your drink. If you have any questions please reach out.

Band Procedures

Please be sure to review the band procedures. We are officially using them upon the start of school and there is no grace period. Take special care to review procedures on In Class/ Music Rehearsal, Attendance Conflicts, and After School Band Rehearsals.

    • People have been wondering about Volunteer Sign Ups-- I haven't had to worry about volunteer sign ups to Football Games and Competitions because there is usually a good number of parents that caravan along with us. However, we do usually need 2-4 parents to ride buses 2 and 3 to away events and keep order. If you would like to chaperone at events, please reach out to Ms. Julie Thomas at katjct@gmail.com . If you would like to volunteer to ride the bus, please tell her so as well.

Birthday Announcements!

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App.

According to Band App, there are FOUR birthdays this week!

Happy Birthday to Leondra Douglass (9/11), Mikayla MacDaid (9/16), Angel Long (9/17), and Payten Rewis (9/17)!

Let's have a great week everyone!

And GOOOOOO WILDCATS!
