Hello Folks!
Can you believe it? It's the beginning of yet another year of music making at BCHS!
There is not very much going on this first week, but things will pick up very soon afterwards

Monday, there is no school. Open House for 10th- 12th Graders is today from 10am- 12pm.
Tuesday, there is no school. Open House for 9th Graders is today from 6pm to 7:30pm.
Wednesday, there is no school. Go to bed early!
Thursday, we have the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! There is also a Leadership Meeting!
Friday, I will be streaming DCI Semi Finals in the band room. DCI semi finals will go from 1pm to roughly 11pm. It would be a fun way for us to spend time in the band room. We can have popcorn, pizza, candies, and other snacks available and just spend time with one another while watching some amazing corps and listening to them on our sound system. You can bring blankets and pillows to watch with your friends on our newly cleaned floor. If you plan to attend, check out the sign up on the BAND app.

Reading: Everyone needs to arrive having read Building Blocks 6-8 (Self Control- Initiative). Everyone also needs to review this pdf.
Secretary: The Secretary needs to reach out to all members of leadership and the band director to see if anyone has items to add to the agenda. You can do this by going to people one by one, or by putting out a google form.

Things to Note 🎵:
Cell Phone Policy
Just so no one is caught off guard, our Cell Phone policy is changing. In Band, students are required to put their cell phone under their seat (or under their stand if we are in marching band mode) if they have it on their person. Students are only allowed to use their cell phones if Mr. Moore grants specific permission (such as to access a particular website or to use an app as a metronome, etc.). Students will not be allowed to accept personal phone calls (including phone calls from parents/ family) during class time.
Remember that Florida laws have changed making it much easier for teacher to confiscate cellular devices. My policy is generally a little looser, but other teachers are planning to play hardball when it comes to cell phones. You've been warned!
Band Procedures
Please be sure to review the band procedures. We are officially using them upon the start of school and there is no grace period. Take special care to review procedures on In Class/ Music Rehearsal, Attendance Conflicts, and After School Band Rehearsals.

By the way, I base birthday announcements on what I can see on the Band App, so if you would like to be recognized for your birthday on the weekly announcements, please make sure your Birthday is set to PUBLIC on the Band App.
According to Band App, there was EIGHT birthdays in July, ONE birthday in August and NO birthdays this week!
