Weekly Update (8/28- 9/1)

This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!

Hello Folks!

I enjoyed the Bradford Game! Not even a little rain can stop us from having fun! 🤩

Tomorrow, we will have a Google Meet Meeting to discuss the end of year trip! We want everyone to tune in regardless of if you are planning to go to go on it, so please go ahead and make sure your Google Meet App is situated on your phone/ computer and that you are ready to go tomorrow. The link to the meeting can be found here: https://meet.google.com/ixp-famo-tcn

The Band is aware of a tropical storm/ hurricane approaching from the gulf coast. The band will communicate changes in our schedule as the week progresses and the storm's path becomes clear. 🌀

Please note a rehearsal was added on Friday, September 8th, since we will not have a Friday Night Football Game that week and need an opportunity to rehearse on the Football Field.

These items were posted last week on the Band App. Please review:

1. Don't forget to eat something substantial for lunch and 'in-between'! Also, don't forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day! I sent an email out to all staff requesting permission for you to bring water to each class. No one said 'no', so it doesn't seem like there is an excuse. Bring your water jugs with you to class! Drink Water!!!

2. Speaking of Water Jugs, the band was told that members can be sent home if they do not have the proper WATER JUG at rehearsals starting next Tuesday! IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE WATER JUG, AND YOU CAN'T FIND IT AT WALMART, you can get with me about ordering one for $15.00.

3. Members of WE and SYM will be utilizing a new book this year called "Habits of Successful Musicians" by Scott Rush. This book is $16.00. I will collect money and purchase each book for you. You will need a book for every concert instrument you play, so if you are in both ensembles, you will need two books. Money will be due by 9/1. If finances are an issue simply communicate. I'd like to get these books order as soon as I can. I can start collecting $$$ for books as soon as Friday.

Things to Note 🎵:

Student Meals @ Home FB Games

Parents/Students-- This year we are offering student meals for $5. These meals will include either a hot dog or a hamburger, chips and a drink. We wanted to try something new this season, in the past some students weren't able to get food because the concession lines were so long that they would be late getting back to the stands. We are pre-selling these meals until noon the day of the game. You may prepay for a meal by going to the band website bakercountybands.org/events. If you go to the website to order make sure you are purchasing under the high school band.

You will have the choice to buy a ticket for a meal for each game if you would like. Unfortunately, you will have to purchase each game meal individually. Each week, we will have a list of the students that have purchased meals and pack them up and deliver them to the stands during 3rd quarter. Each week I will put out a reminder to give everyone a chance to purchase a meal. Students, if you purchase a meal, please make sure you send me a message or leave a comment on the reminder of what you would like to have as your drink. If you have any questions please reach out.

Band Procedures

Please be sure to review the band procedures. We are officially using them upon the start of school and there is no grace period. Take special care to review procedures on In Class/ Music Rehearsal, Attendance Conflicts, and After School Band Rehearsals.
