This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
Welcome back! We are in the endgame now, so let’s have a good 4th quarter!
April is going to be hectic and pretty fast. PLEASE take some time and look ahead in the Band Calendar to work out any potential scheduling conflicts. Missing even one rehearsal will be too much for the amount of stuff we’re trying to put together for this concert.
Because of the craziness of April this year, I will not be spending any more time in office than is needed. This is to say that if you would like to schedule a sectional, or another after school engagement in the band room throughout April and it does not coincide with an ongoing rehearsal or event where I will be present, I need a week’s notice or it will not happen.
Three Leadership Mondays remain. The last Leadership Monday will be for us to discuss how to construct a professional resume and cover letter, and to discuss the interview and the process. After that, there are Drum Major Clinics on April 14th and 15th. If you are going for Drum Major, you should aim to be present for these days.
Finally, All Band Parents and Students, please put Tuesday, May 4th at 6:30pm on your calendar! This will be the day of our Band Parent Meeting. Parents of 8th grade band members coming to the high school band are invited to attend as well! We will be discussing band camp, general expectations, and much more! You should also review the below document.

Cut Time
Each of you should have received an email from “Cut Time”, inviting you to register. PLEASE DO THIS. (If you didn’t get the email, check your “Spam” Folder).
On April 14th, Charms will be defunct for us, and Cut Time will be our band’s new organizational program. If you choose not to register, you will not receive emails from me anymore (and that would be really really bad! ☹)
There are both STUDENT and PARENT accounts and they should be linked. When you register, please make sure that the information that has been put in is correct (especially your Home/ Mobile Phone and email!) Students, the email put in currently is your school email. Please change it to your MOST CHECKED email (so if you check your personal email more, you need to set it to that.)
I will be updating you more on Cut Time as we move on, but I think Cut Time will be a lot more user friendly. 😊
Leadership Requirements
If applying for a position on Student Staff, please review this document. This should concisely state all expectations for Student Staff applications over the coming few weeks. Expectations grow as the competition gets more tense, and because we are looking to downsize, a lot of positions are going to be highly competitive. For the Colorguard and Majorette teams, it is important to note that there may be other leadership opportunities made available aside from Captain. More information will come about this later.
Best Wishes! If there are any questions, please feel free to email me at myles.moore@bakerk12.org.
Band Calendar Updated
Leadership, Rookie, and Band Camps have been added to the Band Calendar! Check June and July. You may notice that Rookie and Leadership Camp are separated from Full Band Camp. This is because I will (finally) be finishing my Master’s degree at FSU this summer. This arrangement was the only way I’d be able to fully commit my time to both my Degree Program and my Students.
Thank you for understanding!
