It is my sincere pleasure to inform you that we have had a Baker County HS Band student make the Florida All State Honors Ensemble this year!!
This is an incredible opportunity for students as they will be exposed to some wonderful literature and they will meet other amazing musicians from across the state of Florida!
To earn a spot in this ensemble, they were nominated by their director and had to demonstrate a high level of proficiency on their instrument including the ability to play all twelve major scales, the ability to play with amazing tone and range, and they also had to have noteworthy participation in band including Solo and Ensemble, Local Honor Bands, and outstanding merit.
Who better to represent Baker County?
Makenna currently is a Senior who serves as one of the Band Captains and one of the Senior Drum Majors in the Wildcat Pride Marching Band, as well as a trumpet player in the Baker County Jazz Ensemble and a trombone player in the Baker County High School Symphonic Band. She has served as a Drum Major since the year 2020. Makenna has taken a strong interest in Leadership and Conducting, which has only furthered her love and interest in music. Makenna's leadership has been instrumental to the band's success over the years. She also was recently accepted to perform at FSU Tri- State!
One proud band director here! And this is just another reason why it’s BETTER IN BAKER!
