This is your weekly MUSIC DEPARTMENT update!
Hello Folks!
Happy New Year!! I can’t believe it’s already 2021! This school year is moving SO fast, it’s unbelievable! Before you know it, our Seniors will be walking across the stage and we’ll be eagerly awaiting Summer Vacation! Be sure to take a moment to enjoy what this new year has to hold!
So that everyone knows what’s going on, I’ve already let the students know about the decision of the Florida Bandmaster’s Association to make Jazz and Concert MPA a virtual MPA for no ratings. This means we will convene after school across one or two days to professionally record our bands playing our MPA repertoire. This will occur in the first or second week of March. I will give more information as we draw near. My vision for this performance is to make it a limited seating, in- studio (band room) event for parents who would like to see their child record live. Students all arrive in the band room dressed in concert attire and we put on a show as though it is the real thing. I will be in discussions with the Band Boosters and Student Leadership to put together a plan.
Despite the change that FBA has made, the Band and I agree that we should continue to work towards putting out a high quality product because it’s what we always strive for and it falls in line with TRAIL, so I’m asking Band Parents to support your child and the band by encouraging consistent attendance at After School Rehearsals, and diligent practice. As far as we are concerned, we are in the heat of the most important part of our season and we will be aiming as high as we can.
Solo and Ensemble MPA is also virtual but will be for rating. There will also be a State- level Solo and Ensemble MPA event. I do not know at this time what Solo & Ensemble is going to look like for us but S&E comes much sooner than MPA this year, so please be on the lookout for updates.
